Look & Learn
Before you develop an enclosed dog park – experience the space. A lot can be learnt from experiencing the space first hand.
A site visit can be an invaluable part of your research and you can learn a lot about:
- interactions within the park (dog-dog, dog-human and human-human interactions)
- who uses a dog park
- type of amenities (what are essential and optional amenities?)
- potential conflict areas
- wear and tear of ground surfaces
- how the space is used by both dogs and people.
“LOOK with a critical eye and LEARN what works and what doesn’t work in the dog park”.
We need to evaluate the effectiveness/success of these parks. Success is more than a popular park.
