When did Dog Parks first appear in South Australia?

broadview dog park adelaideThis is a question we are often asked, and this week’s blog lists those designated, Enclosed Dog Parks that we know about and have audited in South Australia.

Before Balancing Act Adelaide developed a specific, up-to-date listing of enclosed dog parks, you would have to scramble through various pet-friendly websites for information. You would then have the time consuming task of distinguishing between those parks that are dedicated, enclosed or fenced dog parks and those parks that are unfenced, off leash areas.

When did Dog Parks first appear in South Australia?

  • This is another question we are often asked. Enclosed dog parks first appeared in South Australia about 18 years ago. Now there are 29 dogs parks in the state with some of the earlier parks ready for an upgrade. An increasing number of new parks are being proposed for both, metropolitan and country areas of South Australia.
  • This audit information will also inform the work we are doing with the Dog and Cat Management Board on Dog Parks.
